CHILDREN IN NEED FUNDRAISING DAY AT MEADOWLANE SHOPPING CENTRE -featuring BBCs Stephen Nolan – Thursday 23rd October 2008

TV personality Stephen Nolan and Pudsey Bear visited Meadowlane Shopping Centre on Thursday 23rd October to do a ‘Dash for Cash’ in aid of Children in Need.

It was a great day’s fun with the retailers, customers, schools and local business doing their bit to raise money for this worthwhile charity.  There were many wacky events including a cycle challenge by Woolworths, a trolley dash and bag packing by Dunnes Stores, a fancy dress day in Semi Chem and New Look staff even came to work in theit PJs for the day, all in an effort to raise as much sponsorship and money as possible for the childrens charity.

Local Schools including Sperrin Integrated College, Magherafelt High School and the Northern Regional College helped out by packing customers bags in Dunnes Stores and collecting money on the mall.

Spires Integrated Primary School raised money by having a ‘Mad Hair Day’ in School and presented Stephen Nolan and Pudsey with a cheque for £200.00

The Kidz Lodge Creche had a PJs day and raised an amazing £700.00 for the charity.

Local ‘Hiphop dance Troupe’ ‘Kirsty’s Kinectic Kids’ entertained the crowds with their fantastic danceing and raised a significant amount of money for Children In Need.

Local Beauty Salon ‘The Spa on Broad Street’ came along to do manicures for donations and they also carried out some leg waxing on 4 brave volunteers who raised sponsor money for the charity.
